King Kong the movie review

King Kong the movie reviewafter all the hype and being a huge fan of the original 1933 film I was very excited to hear the genious behind Lord of the Rings trilogy was going to be re-making this movie. the first 40 or so minutes were great, old new york came to life, to boat trip was believable and the cast were decent. Jack Black's constant smirking made it very hard to take him seriously but very easy to accept that he is an eccentric artistic film maker.

the movie fell to bits as soon as they entered the Island, what a dismal display of special effects and hours of wasted story telling. The effects took us back at least 10 years in digital special effects with blue hazes around the brontosauruses, or were they diplodocuses? whatever type of Dinosaurs they were they had a blue haze and the chase scene left people tumbling and falling over for what seemed like 3 hours, it of course wasn't due the fact the movie was a 3hr and 7minute flic already! This part added nothing to the feature and was a very sore addition.

back to New York after more fights with over sized bugs and bats, loss of most of the crew and yet there still seemed to be about 20+ people after numerous deaths. the New York scene was a lot more appetising and more truethful to the original, I was still blown back by the costumes, the sets and the cars. Peter Jackson managed to get these parts right, sadly he'd lost most of his audience by this point, either to boredom and eventually sleep or by the exit.

I give this movie 1/2 a piece of popcorn and sum it up with this: if you don't like insects this film isn't for you!
